ROCK

Rolling Stones: Sticky Fingers

Possibly the greatest Stones album ever, released in 1971, Sticky Fingers engendered controversy. The world had not yet become accustomed to the bold Rolliing Stones and their outlandish recordings and live performances. Times change; this platinum LP ages well.

From the opening brashness of Brown Sugar to the sublte mood changes from Dead Flowers into Moonlight Mile, Mick Jagger's voice is in perfect pitch and Keith Richards' strumming guitar licks are classic.

JAZZ

John Coltrane: Giant Steps

This is the original 1960 master recording of Coltrane's jazz masterpiece. Enjoy.

COUNTRY

The Best of Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash (February 26, 1932 - September 12, 2003) was an American country singer-songwriter, born to poor cotton farmers in Kingsland, Arkansas. Cash rose to fame during the mid-1950s in the burgeoning rockabilly scene in Memphis, Tennessee, after serving four years in the Air Force.

Most of Cash's music contains themes of sorrow, moral tribulation, and redemption, especially songs from the later stages of his career. He was known for his deep, calm bass-baritone voice, the distinctive sound of his Tennessee Three backing band characterized by train-like chugging guitar rhythms and a rebelliousness subtly coupled with a somber and humble demeanor. Cash played many free prison concerts, usually wearing his trademark all-black stage wardrobe, which earned him the nickname the "Man in Black".
