Contents - April 2025 - Volume 2, #4

1. Cover - This month's cover is an example of Japanese art called Ukiyo-e, a genre of Japanese art that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Artists from this period produced woodblock prints and paintings of such subjects as female beauties; kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers; scenes from history and folk tales; travel scenes and landscapes; flora and fauna; and erotica. The term ukiyo-e translates as 'picture[s]of the floating world'.

2. From the Publisher's Desk - Sometimes, it's better to just let other people do the talking.

3. Contents /Credits - If this page were edited by Rene Descates, this section might be called 'i think, therefore, I am here.'

4. Calendar - Entries for golf events, NASCAR, Kentucky Derby prep races, and financial events can be found on the events calendar.

5. State of the World - Spheres of influence examined in terms of the emerging multi-polar global environment puts into perspective the roles of Europe, Russia, China, and the United States.

6. Feature - There are many places to buy and sell things on the internet, but the worst has to be the formerly delightful - and now horrifying - experience on eBay, where scammers proliferate and sellers are routinely taken to the cleaners through outrageous fees and a myriad of rules that would make the IRS jealous.

7. Sports - The transition from Winter to Spring means a conclusion to the college basketball season and the start of baseball season, Kentucky Derby preps and golf's Masters in Augusta, Georgia.

7a. Sports Extra - idleguy.com is home to the unofficial MLB Players of the Day (POTD), featuring the best performances from the National and American Leagues, every day throughout the season.

8. Money - The best and worst perfrming assets of the 1st quarter of 2025 are detailed.

9. Food & Drink - Yes, it's Easter, but everybody knows how to cook a ham and color Easter eggs, so it was decided that Fearless Rick's Baked Bean Jambalaya would make a more tantalizing and Cajun-style recipe so that Mardi Gras could continue indefinitely. Bon apeti.

10. Books - From the off-beat, to the beat, to the spiritual, this month's offerings include works by Jack Kerouac, Hunter S. Thompson, J.D. Salinger, and Carlos Castaneda, all available for free downlaod from the ever-expanding idleguy.com library.

11. Public Domain / Toast of the Town - An unusually sarcastic collection of quotes in the Toast of the Town accompanies a short story by the masterful Anton Chekhov.

12. Back Page - Preview of the May issue of idleguy.com and contact form.

Daily Idler - The place to go every day to keep the idleguy lifestyle in tip-top shape.

Home - Where the heart is and also where every issue can be located, for better or worse.
