Letting Other People Do the Talking![]()
A Break in the Usual Process
Normally, I reserve this space for myself because of some inner urge to say what's really on my mind. This month, something different. Here's what other people are saying or thinking:
Rasmussen Reports (April 7): Trump's approval has shifted, with 51% of Americans now disapproving of his job performance compared to 48% approving. Rasmussen tracks Trump's approval rating daily. His rating has fluctuated over the past two months, starting at 56% on Inauguration Day, but dropped below 50% for the first time on April 3.
The Economist/YouGov Poll (March 30 - April 1): This poll shows Trump with 46% approval and 49% disapproval. The survey sampled 1,626 citizens.
"Our big problem isn't poverty, inequality, the musical stylings of Nickelback, the fact an exterior panel glued on Tesla Cybertrucks can suddenly detach and go flying. No, the real problem, according to the world's richest man, is that we care too much." - Matt K. Lewis, Guest contributor, LA Times
"America has been sitting on a $150 trillion fortune." - Jim Rickards
"When we address the underlying issues that cause homelessness in the first place, everyone benefits. And when we have enough housing and resources for all, encampments will shrink and close on their own." - Rev. Lindsey Krinks
"By willfully neglecting meaningful coverage of Spokane's anti-Trump movement, our broadcast media made itself complicit with the administration's disregard for democratic norms." - Angela Fredericks, Spokane
"Non-college voters, generally poorer than average, are less likely to back redistributive economic policies than the educated, upper-middle-class professionals on the other side of that redistribution." - Teddy Witt, Yale News
"Increasing tariffs represents a misunderstanding of both world history and our current times. Placing barriers on trade between countries today makes no more sense than preventing grain from moving from Iowa to Illinois." - Jon Lindgren, Des Moines Register
"I have, I'll concede, been more critical of the North Carolina Supreme Court than most. I have watched, and complained of, their bold and unrelenting partisanship, their wild and sanctimonious hypocrisy, their judicial dishonesty and unprofessionalism, their rash contempt for the rule of law. I have even pointed to the signals of what they were about to do - in the Jefferson Griffin challenge to his NC Supreme Court loss - to steal the election." - Gene Nichol, Raleigh News & Observer
"There's a risk to everything in life. Some are greater than others. But that's why medications are prescribed in consultation with our trusted physicians, and each medication comes with a disclaimer." - Janelle Stecklein, The Oklahoman
"Now, the business elite are appalled - as are small business owners, by the way. They knew Republicans would go after immigrants, trans kids, and Medicaid recipients; that was no big deal. But they thought Trump was one of them, so he'd have their interests at heart. For all they flatter themselves that their wealth is a sign of their brilliance, they were just as gullible as anyone." - Paul Waldman, The Daily Beast
