CONTENTS

April/May 2024

1. Cover
This month's cover was inspired by the full solar eclipse on April 8, the path of totality stretching through Mexico, across the United States Midwest and through Eastern provinces of Canada

2. From the Publisher's Desk
Fearless Rick's monthly missive includes a short history of publishing, format changes and a little bit of lamenting, plus a new FTPD icon. (sidebar includes historic events from Aprils and Mays past)

3. Contents /Credits
You are here. We're still looking to fill some unpaid positions and have fired a couple more women.

4. Calendar
Of course, the big event this issue is the Kentucky Derby, but our monthly calendar includes lots of other interesting dates.

5. State of the World
Anybody taking a serious look at what our world has become cannot be too happy. We provide a little hope.

6. Feature Story
Ben Kohn Hates Bunnies, Part 3. This is the long-awaited conclusion of how the legacy of Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner is slowly being dismantled.

7. Sports
A scintillating look at some of the contenders for the Run for the Roses Kentucky Derby. A few updates from Major League Baseball.

8. Money
First, did you file your taxes on time? Second, why do we even bother?

9. Food & Drink
Fearless Rick worked up a healthy Spring and Summer refresher, plus some links to bourbons and Mint Julep recipes. The Accidental Farmer makes an appearance.

10. Books
Two books featured from this month's additions to the idleguy.com library include Willem Middlekoop's "The Big Reset" and the seminal work on the Weimar Republic in Adam Fergusson's "When Money Dies." Both relate to the current economic climate in startling ways.

11. Public Domain / Toast of the Town
Another short stroy from the masterful Guy de Maupassant and our usual selection of off the cuff quotes.

12. Back Page
The end is here, but we preview the June issue.
