December 31, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Ben Hammond came off the bench to score a career-high 30 points, including eight in the third overtime, to lead Virginia Tech over #21 Virginia, 95-85, in triple overtime, Wednesday in Blackburg.

Hammond played 42 minutes largely because the Hokies were down two starters due to injury. He was just 7-for-16 from the field, but kept picking up fouls, keying a 16-for-18 effort from the free throw line. The 5’11” sophomore from Manassas, Virginia also had five boards, five assists, and a pair of steals.

The Hokies, now 12-2 and 1-0 in the ACC, have played four overtime games already this season, winning all of them. Next stop for the Hokies is at Wake Forest, Saturday, January 3rd.



December 30, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Florida State proved to be no match for the Tar Heels, especially in the post, where Caleb Wilson dominated with 22 points and 16 rebounds, leading North Carolina past the Seminoles, 79-66 Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, NC.

Wilson, the 6’10” freshman forward that is one of the stars of the collegiate freshman class, added six assists, recording his third straight double-double and 10th of the season. Wilson has scored in double figures in every game this season and leads the Tar Hells in scoring and rebounding, at 19.8 and 11.2, respectively.

Wilson hit nine of 15 shots from the field and made four of five from the foul line. #12 North Carolina opened ACC play with a win and is 13-1 overall. Next up for the Tar Heels is a trip to SMU against the Mustangs on Saturday, January 3.



December 29, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Arizona put six players in double figures and Koa Peat threw down a double-double with 19 points and 14 boards, as the top-ranked Wildcats cruised to a 99-71 win over South Dakota State Monday in Tucson, Arizona.

Peat made seven of 12 shots from the field, including a 3-pointer. He was 4-for-7 from the foul line and added three assists. Peat leads the Wildcats in scoring (14.2 ppg) and in field goal percentage, at 56.3%.

Peat, a 6’8” freshman from nearby Chandler, Arizona, had a breakout game, his second double-double and a career high in rebounding. Peat’s career-high scoring was 30 in his debut appearance, a 93-87 win over Florida back on November 3rd.

Arizona kept its record free from losses at 13-0. The Wildcats open Big 12 play on Saturday, January 3rd, when they travel to Utah.



December 28, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Fresh off a game-high 27 points in an 82-81 win over Duke, Texas Tech’s Christian Anderson dropped in 29 Sunday in an 87-57 Red Raider blowout of Winthrop, wrapping up heir non-conference schedule with a 10-3 mark and a #15 ranking in the most recent AP Poll.

Anderson, playing on Tech’s home court in Lubbock, Texas, was 8-for-13 from the field, including 4-for-9 from 3-point range and a perfect 9-for-9 from the foul line, adding six rebounds and five assists.

Averaging 20.6 points and 7.1 assists per game, the 6’3” sophomore from Atlanta leads the team in assists and is second in scoring behind J.T. Toppin.

Texas Tech begins Big 12 play on Saturday, January 3rd when they host Oklahoma State.



December 22, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

There were no Top 25 teams in action on Tuesday, but senior forward Tyler Bilodeau made the case for UCLA’s future inclusion in the college basketball’s elite class, scoring a career-high 34 points to lead the Bruins to a 97-65 victory over visiting UC Riverside at famous Pauley Pavillion in Los Angeles, California.

Cashing in on 12-for-19 shooting, Bilodeau knocked down four of seven 3-pointers and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe, adding six rebounds in his 30 minutes of floor time. The 6’9” forward leads the Bruins in scoring at a solid 19.0 points per game.

This is Bilodeau’s second season at UCLA. He spent his freshman and sophomore years at Oregon State, transferring into the winning UCLA program for the 2024-25 season and sticking with the team.

UCLA improved to 10-3 overall and are already 2-0 in Big Ten play, scoring wins over Washington and Oregon earlier this month. 9-0 at home, the Bruins will get their next test at #25 Iowa on January 3rd.

As far as can be discerned, with most universities on holiday break, there are no games scheduled for Wednesday, Christmas Eve, or Thursday, Christmas Day. Merry Christmas, hoops fans!



December 22, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

The Eagles of Eastern Washington tried to hang with #10 BYU Monday night, but star forward, A.J. Dybantsa was a relentless force, putting up a triple-double with 33 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in what turned into a second-half blowout, 109-81 win for the 12-1 Cougars.

While Eastern Washington remained somewhat in touch through the first half, down 53-48 at the break, the second half was all Cougars, as they shot 61% from the field and outscored the Eagles, 56-33.

BYU made 16 3-pointers, two of them by Dybantsa, who was 2-for-3 from beyond the arc and 11-for-13 overall, adding nine of 11 free throws. The 6’9” freshman has scored in double figures in all 13 BYU outings this season and fell two points short of his career-high of 35, which was recorded Friday against Abilene Christian.

Tuesday’s victory marked the end of non-conference play for BYU. They open Big 12 action on January 3rd when they hit the road to meet Kansas State.



December 21, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Tyler Nickel made eight of 10 from 3-point range and finished with a game-high 26 points leading unbeaten (12-0) Vanderbilt to a 98-67 blowout at Wake Forest, Sunday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Nickel played 29 minutes and was 9-for-12 from the field.

The 12-0 Commodores made 16 of 32 3-pointers and shot 59% overall and led wire-to-wire. Nickel started the scoring with a trey as Vandy built an 8-0 lead and was never threatened. It was the second time in three games that Nickel, a 6’7” senior from Harrisonburg, Virginia made eight 3s. He scored a career-high 30 in an 83-72 win over Central Arkansas on December 30, going 8-for-15 from downtown. Nickel spent a season at North Carolina and one year at Virginia Tech before transferring to Vanderbilt following the 2023-24 season.

#13 Vanderbilt has one more non-conference game - a December 29 hosting of New Haven - before starting SEC play at South Carolina on January 3rd.



December 20, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Christian Anderson scored 23 of his game-high 27 points in the second half, rallying Texas Tech from a 17-point deficit to guide the Red Raiders to an upset, 82-81, win over #3 Duke, Saturday at a showcase game at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Anderson, who played the entire 40 minutes, sank the front end of a 1-and-1 to give the Red Raiders the lead with 3.4 seconds left. After missing the second free throw, Duke rebounded and called a timeout with 1.8 seconds left. Cameron Boozer’s 3-point shot at the buzzer missed, giving Texas Tech one of its biggest wins in school history.

Anderson was spectacular as Texas Tech rallied against the Blue Devils, hitting 9 of 14 field goals, going 5-for-9 from 3-point range. He added four free throws, five assists, three rebounds and three steals. The 6’3” sophomore from Atlanta, Georgia has scored in double figures in 11 of Texas Tech’s 12 games.

The #19 Red Raiders improved to 9-3 on the season and is likely to have an easier time in their next game, a home meeting with Winthrop on Sunday, December 28. Tech begins Big 12 play on January 3rd versus Oklahoma State. The Blue Devils lost for the first time this season. At 11-1 they’re not likely to lose any ground in Monday’s new AP poll. Duke starts their ACC schedule on New Year’s Eve, December 31, hosting Georgia Tech.



December 19, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Freshman A.J. Dybantsa, touted as the #1 or #2 player coming out of college this season, scored a career-high 35 points as the BYU Cougars cruised past the visiting Wildcats of Abilene Christian, 85-67, Friday night in Provo, Utah.

Dybantsa, a 6’9” forward from Brocton, Massachusetts, made 9 of 12 shots from the field and piled on 17 of 20 from the foul line, adding six boards and four assists. It was the first time he’s tallied more than 30 thus far in his brief collegiate career. He’s averaging 22.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game and has scored at least 16 points in every game this season. He is BYU's leading scorer.

Richie Saunders knocked down 21 points for the 11-1, 10th ranked Cougars, who won their eighth straight after losing to UConn, 86-84, on November 15, in Boston’s Hall of Fame Series.

The Cougars will look for their ninth straight victory on Monday, December 22, when they host Eastern Washington. They begin conference play in the Big 12 on January 3rd with a road trip to Kansas State.



December 18, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

The Ohio Valley conference doesn’t get much coverage, but one team will advance to the NCAA Tournament in March and that team could be the Lindenwood Lions, winners of their second conference game without a loss behind a career-high 36 points from senior guard, Anias Futrell.

The Lions defeated visiting Western Illinois, 92-76, Thursday night, as Futrell scored 10 points in an early 16-2 surge that gave Lindenwood an early lead which was never threatened. Limiting the Leathernecks to 28 first half points, the Lions coasted to their 7th win in 11 games. Futrell scored 19 first half points to put the Lions up, 42-28, at the break and knocked down another 17 in the second. Teammates Jadis Jones and Dontrez Williams each added 18 for the winning effort.

Futrell went 14-25 from the field, including 8-for-13 from deep, adding eight rebounds and five assists. He’s cashing treys at a 43.1% clip this season.

A 6’5” senior from St. Louis Missouri, Futrell started at St. Louis Community College, where he earned All-Midwest Community College Athletic Conference honors and First Team All-Region, led Christian Brothers University in scoring in the 2023-24 season (17.6) before transferring to Lindenwood in 2024-25.

Lindenwood previously won at Eastern Illinois, 82-74, for their initial conference win. They have two more non-conference games on December 20 and 23 before resuming conference play on January 1, hosting Morehead State.



December 17, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Connecting from all over the court, Gonzaga’s Braden Huff made 16 of 18 shots from the field, including the only 3-pointer he attempted, for a career-high 37 points, leading the Bulldogs over the Campbell Fighting Camels, 98-70 Wednesday night in Spokane, Washington.

Huff scored eight points in the first four minutes, helping the Bulldogs establish an early, 11-4, lead, which expanded to 55-36 by halftime with Huff contributing 26, making all 12 of his shot attempts. A 6’10” junior forward from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Huff also pulled down eight rebounds.

A consistent scorer in his three years at Gonzaga, Huff leads the team, averaging 19.0 points per game for the 11-1 Bulldogs and is shooting at 67.8% from the field, 7th nationally. He’s scored in double figures in each of Gonzaga’s 12 games this season.

The 7th-ranked Bulldogs close out their non-conference schedule when they host Oregon on Sunday, December 21.



December 16, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

LeJuan Watts put on quite a show Tuesday night in Lubbock, Texas, scoring a career-high 36 points, as Texas Tech outscored visiting Norther Colorado, 101-90.

While Texas Tech never trailed, the 9-2 Bears tied the game twice in the second half. Watts, who was on fire the entire game, helped the Red Raiders forge to a lead with nine points in less than three minutes.

Watts made 12 of 13 shots from the field, including three 3-pointers. He was 9-for-11 from the foul line and added six rebounds, four assists and a steal. The 6’6” junior forward from Fresno, California has been a steady contributor for the 8-3 Red Raiders, averaging 14.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. His scoring is normally overshadowed largely by All-American J.T. Toppin, who finished the night with 23 points. Brock Wisne led Northern Colorado with 29.

Watts began his collegiate career with Eastern Washington, then transferred to Washington State last season before ending up at Texas Tech for the 2025-26 campaign.

The #19 Red Raiders extended its non-conference home winning streak to 45 games with the victory. It was the first time this season that Texas Tech cracked the century mark. The Red Raiders meet the #3 Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, December 20, at Madison Square Garden, in what should be one heck of an offensive showcase for both teams. Tech averages 83.6 points per game. Duke scores at a rate of 87.7.



December 15, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Arkansas Pine-Bluff trashed Ecclesia, Monday night,114-64, getting a strong double-double from senior Quion Williams, who demolished the Roayls’ defense with 25 points and 16 rebounds.

Williams hit 10 of 13 shots from the field, made a 3-pointer and was 4-for-6 from the free throw line. Adding seven assists and six steals, the 6’5” native of Jonesboro, Arkansas was an unstoppable force in the win by the Golden Lions. Scoring at a 16.2 points per game clip, Williams has improved his numbers all four years of his college career.

Well-traveled, Williams played last season for Abilene Christian after spending his first two college years at Oklahoma State.

The win was just the second of the season for the Golden Lions. They are 2-10 as they prepare for their final non-conference battle, facing the Champion Christian Tigers on Wednesday afternoon at the H.O. Clemmons Arena in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.



December 14, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Minnesota’s Cade Tyson made eight of 12 3-pointers and was 11-for-19 overall, adding eight of 11 free throws for a career-high 38 points in an 89-53 Golden Gopher rout of Texas Southern Sunday in Minneapolis. Tyson also hauled down 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.

The 6-5 Gophers were never threatened by the 1-7 Tigers, racing out to 31-13 lead and never looking back. Tyson made five of seven 3-pointers in the first half as Minnesota expanded their lead to 45-25 at the break.

Tyson, a 6’7” swingman from Monroe, North Carolina, transferred to the Golden Gophers from the Tar Heels program following the 2024-25 season. Tyson, now a senior, spent his first two years at Belmont in the Missouri Valley conference where he put up double figures in scoring in most of his games. Not getting much playing time in North Carolina, he made the move to Minnesota, where he is now a starter and has scored in double figures in all 11 games. He leads the team in scoring at 22.6 points per game.

Next up for the 6-5 Golden Gophers is a December 21 home game against Campbell. Minnesota is 1-1 in Big Ten play, having lost to Purdue and defeated Indiana. They begin conference play in earnest on January 3rd when they travel to Northwestern.



December 13, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

The Maryland Terrapins got an early taste of living in the 2025-26 environment of Big Ten hoops as they hosted #2 Michigan and found out that nobody could realistically guard Yaxel Lendeborg.

Lendeborg scored 29 points on 8-of-11 shooting including four of five 3-pointers, collected eight rebounds and dished a career-high nine assists. Outscored in the first half, 50-45, the Wolverines came back to rout the Terrapins, 101-83.

In addition to the near-triple-double, Lendeborg made all nine of his free throws along with three blocked shots and a pair of steals. The 6’9” senior from Pennsauken, NJ is hitting free throws at a rate of 86.4%.

Michigan improved to 10-0 and are now 2-0 in Big Ten play. They next host LaSalle on Sunday, December 14.



December 12, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Senior forward Filip Borovicanin nearly put up a triple-double leading Xavier past Missouri State, 75-57 Friday in Cincinnati.

A 6’9” forward from Belgrade, Serbia, Borovicanin scored 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting, including three 3-pointers in five attempts. He also collected 11 rebounds and distributed the ball well, with a game-high eight assists. Borovicanin played two seasons at Arizona, and transferred to New Mexico for the 2024-25 season before joining Xavier for his senior campaign.

Missouri State’s Keith Palek III led all scorers with 23 points. Jovan Milicevic scored 17 to lead the Musketeers.

Winners of five in a row, Xavier improved to 8-3 on the season, and will open its Big East conference schedule on Wednesday, December 17 when the Musketeers host Creighton.



December 11, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Joshua Jefferson led #4 Iowa State with 24 points and knocked down a pair of free throws with 9.1 seconds left as the Cyclones improved to 10-0 with a 66-62 win over arch-rival Iowa Thursday night in Ames.

The Cyclones got off to a slow start and trailed by as many as 13 points, but started a 19-0 run that spanned both halves. The trailed, 33-25, at the break, but evened the score at 17:54 of the second half on a Tamin Lipsey layup assisted by Jefferson.

The Hawkeyes were resilient, however, and remained close, trailing by just two points with just over three minutes remaining. Jefferson made a 3-pointer to give the Cyclones a five point lead at 3:01 and added a free throw seconds later. Iowa closed to 64-62 at the 1:04 mark, but they could get no closer, as Jefferson calmly made two free throws with 9.1 left for the four-point victory.

Jefferson finished 7-for-14 from the field and made three of six 3-point shots, adding seven points from the foul line with five rebounds, two blocks and a pair of steals. The 6’9” senior from Las Vegas is averaging 18.2 points and 6.5 boards this season and is shooting at a 55.8% clip. He’s scored in double figures every game this season and had back-to-back double-doubles recently, in wins over Alcorn State and Syracuse.

The Cyclones host Eastern Illinois Sunday, December 14. Big 12 play begins January 2nd, with a home game against West Virginia.



December 10, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Houston’s Emanuel Sharp had an easy time of it Wednesday night against the Jackson State Tigers, scoring a game-high 23 points on 8-for-11 shooting, including making five of eight from 3-point range. The 7th-ranked Cougars improved to 9-1, rolling past the Tigers, 80-38. Jackson State dropped to 1-8 for the season.

Sharp, a 6’3” senior guard from Tampa, Florida, added three rebounds, three assists, and made four steals. He’s scored in double figures in all but two of Houston’s 10 games, one of which was a 76-73 loss to Tennessee, the Cougars’ only loss of the season.

Next up for Houston is a home game against New Orleans on Saturday, December 13. On the following Saturday, December 20, they host #17 Arkansas.



December 9, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

In a wild finish, Robert Wright III cashed a 25-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer to send BYU home a 67-64 winner over Clemson in the first game of the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden Tuesday night.

Wright, a 6’1” guard from Wilmington, Delaware, finished with 17 points on 6-for-14 shooting, making 3 of 5 from beyond the arc, adding five rebounds and three assists. Wright is averaging 16.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.9 assists this season. Wright transferred to BYU from Baylor after his freshman year.

Teammate AJ Dybantsa, heralded as the #2 pick in the upcoming NBA draft, lead all scorers with 28 points and nabbed nine boards as the Cougars rallied furiously in the second half from a 21-point, 43-22 halftime deficit. BYU didn’t score a single point in the last seven minutes of the first half, but the tide turned as Dybantsa outscored the Tigers in the second half, scoring 22 to Clemson’s 21, as the Cougars stormed back with a 45-21 edge in the second half.

In the second game, #5 UConn topped #18 Florida, 77-73. Improving to 8-1, #10 BYU next hosts UC Riverside on Saturday, December 13.



December 8, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

The nation’s leading scorer, P.J. Haggerty, played just 24 minutes but scored a game-high 28 points in Kansas State’s 108-49 runaway victory over Mississippi Valley State, Monday night in Manhattan, Kansas.

Haggerty upped his average to 24 points per game. He took 14 shots, made 11, including 5-for-6 from 3-point range, adding four boards and three assists.

The completely overmatched Delta Devils trailed almost the entire game, as the Wildcats raced off to a 23-8 lead in the first seven minutes and led, 55-21, at the half. Haggerty scored 15 in the first half and 13 in the second. The 6’4” junior guard from Crosby, Texas has tallied in double figures in all 10 of K-State’s games this season, including a season-high 37 points in a 98-77 win over Mississippi State on November 20.

Haggerty went through the portal from Memphis after the 2024-25 season. Kansas State is 6-4, and play next at Creighton on Saturday, December 13.



December 7, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Christian Anderson scored 10 of his game-high 27 points in the first eight minutes, helping #19 Texas Tech to an early 23-9 lead, as the Red Raiders dusted LSU, 82-58, Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas.

Leading the entire game, Texas Tech was never challenged, putting up a halftime score of 47-26. Anderson was 9-for-16 from the field, including four 3-pointers. The sophomore guard from Atlanta, Georgia, also dished eight assists and hauled in five rebounds. Anderson has improved his scoring this season over his freshman year from 10.6 points per game to 19.1.

The Red Raiders improved to 7-2 with the victory. LSU dropped its first game of the season in nine starts. Texas Tech will next host #25 Arkansas on Saturday, December 6.



December 6, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Washington’s Hannes Steinbach was a monster in the paint Saturday at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, putting a 24-point, 16 rebound double-double on USC, as the Huskies handed the #24 Trojans their first loss of the season, 84-76.

Steinbach, a burly presence from Wurzburg, Germany, registered his fifth straight double-double and is averaging 18.5 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. The Trojans were no match for him inside or out on both the offensive and defensive ends. His 7-for-12 shooting included a pair of 3-pointers and seven of his 16 boards were off the offensive glass.

The Huskies dominated inside, out-rebounding USC, 45-31. Washington’s defense held the Trojans to 37% shooting while they made 45% from the field. USC fell to 8-1, while the Huskies improved to 6-3. Washington rallied from an 18-point first half deficit, burying the Trojans in the second half by outscoring them, 54-28.

The Huskies will take a break until December 13, when they host Southern Utah.



December 5, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Behind senior forward Graham Ike’s game-high 28 points and 10 rebounds, #11 Gonzaga absolutely spanked #18 Kentucky, 94-59, Friday night in Nashville at the Music City Madness showcase.

Gonzaga led the entire game, racing off to a 7-0 lead and expanding it to 19-2 early in the opening half. Nearing the game’s end, the Bulldogs expanded their sizable advantage to as many as 37 points.

Ike’s double-double was his fifth of the season, as the Bulldogs improved to 8-1 and dropped Kentucky down to 5-4 and probably out of next week’s Top 25 rankings. The 6’9” native of Aurora, Colorado finished 11-for-18 and 5-for-6 from the foul line. Half of his rebounds were on the offensive end.

Gonzaga held the Wildcats to 27% shooting, out-rebounded them 43 to 31 and doubled their assists, 24 to 12. Kentucky shot 21% from 3-point range (7-for-34).

Gonzaga returns home to host South Florida on Sunday, December 7.



December 4, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

In an opening tip of the Big West conference, Cal Poly’s Peter Bandelj made nine of 10 shots from 3-point range and was 11-for-13 overall as the Mustangs downed Cal State Fullerton, 94-91, Thursday night in Fullerton, California.

Bendelj’s game-high and career-high 37 points also included a perfect 6-for-6 at the foul line, five boards, and three assists. Teammate Hamad Mousa, who leads the team in scoring at 19.3 points per game, threw down 27, helping to even the Mustangs’ record at 5-5.

A 6’4” sophomore from Ljubljana, Slovenia, Bendelj has scored in double figures in 9 of 10 games this season and is averaging 17.9 points per game. His nine 3-pointers set a school record.

The Mustangs will seek to improve above .500 when they host UC Riverside on Saturday, December 6.



December 3, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

The score tied at six-all, Tyler Tanner fed Tyler Nickel for a 3-pointer and after the made basket, #17 Vanderbilt led the rest of the game for an 88-69 win over SMU, Wednesday night in Nashville.

Tanner’s assist to Nickel was one of the six he dished on the night, leading all scorers with a career-high 26 points on 10-for-14 shooting, with five rebounds and two steals. He’s scored in double figures in each of the nine Commodores games, all wins.

Tanner, a 6’0” sophomore from nearby Brentwood, Tennessee, has elevated his game from last season, improving his scoring average from 5.7 points per game to 15.0.

Having handed SMU its first loss of the season, the Commodores will take a break until December 13, when they host Central Arkansas. On Wednesday, December 17, they travel to Memphis for an in-state rivalry game with the Tigers.



December 2, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Duke’s freshman sensation, Cameron Boozer had another big game against a ranked opponent, as the Blue Devils edged #15 Florida, 67-66, Tuesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, NC.

Boozer scored 16 in the first half and 13 in the second half, going 10-for-21 from the field, making 3 of nine 3-pointers with six rebounds and two assists. Isaiah Evans made the game-winning 3-pointer with 21 seconds left to play.

Boozer is averaging 23.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game and is shooting at a 56.2% clip. In his last three games, Boozer has scored 90 points, including his career-high of 35 in an 80-71 win over #22 Arkansas last week.

Dropping the Gators to 6-3 on the year, #4 Duke improved to 9-0. Next up for the Blue Devils is a Saturday afternoon date at Michigan State to face the #7 Wolverines on December 6.



December 1, 2025 College Hoops Player of the Day

Roddie Anderson III came off the bench to score a game-high 28 points for Xavier, leading the Musketeers over the visiting Saint Francis Red Flash, 96-74, Monday night in Cincinnati.

Anderson, a 6’3” senior from Orange County, California, made 10 of 16 shots from the field, which included a 5-for-9 effort from beyond the arc, adding in three of four free throws, five boards and five assists in 25 minutes of floor time.

After early ties at 2-2 and 4-4, Xavier pulled ahead with a 7-0 run and never looked back. Every time St. Francis got close, the Musketeers ran off more buckets, the lead expanding to as many as 27 points in the second half.

Anderson played for UC-San Diego in 2022-23 and transferred to Boise State for the 2023-24 season. He sat out the 2024-25 season as a redshirt at Xavier.

Xavier improved to 6-3, dropping the Red Flash to 1-7. The Musketeers have won three straight and host Cincinnati on Friday, December 5.
