September, 2025 • Volume 2, #9

1. Cover - The September 2025 cover is a painting by recently-deceased Leonid Afremov. Leonid Afremov was born on 12 July 1955 in Vitebsk, Belarus, then former USSR, to Jewish parents Bella Afremova and Arkadiy Afremov.

Leonid Afremov (born 12 July 1955 in Vitebsk, Belarus – Died August 19th 2019 , Playa Del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico) is a Russian–Israeli modern impressionistic artist who worked mainly with a palette knife and oils.

2. From the Publisher's Desk - 100, 97, and 92 have significant meanings for Fearless Rick, and he recounts the deep past that led to this present and a brighter future.

3. Contents /Credits - Something witty needs to go here, because this is the page you're reading. How about, a quote from Snoop Dogg: "If you stop at general math, then you will only make general money."

4. Calendar - Dates and times are a numbers game perfectly suited for this month's calendar, which is furiously being updated.

5. State of the World - Some of the numbers from the world at large are, indeed, large. Ukraine and Gaza destruction are highlighted.

6. Feature - Can you name the five longest rivers in the world or the tallest mountains on each continent? If not, this month's feature is for you. There are also 15 free online calculators featured to compute everything from a company's enterprise value to your monthly budget.

7. Sports - No, no, idleguy.com has not forgotten that it's football season. Fearless Rick and Coin Flip have their picks for all the NFL games and selected Top 25 college meetings, every week.

7a. Sports Extra - We've been at it all summer and September's Sports Extra will reveal the MLB Players of the Day from the National and American Leagues, every day, right in front of your eyes.

8. Money - How serious are people about retirement and what percentage of people couldn't make it through a month if they lost their job are questions answered this month... well, maybe, but our facts and figures should offer some clues about where you're at financially.

9. Food & Drink - Did you ever wonder how much a pinch of salt actually was or how many tablespoons it takes to make up a half cup of milk? Even if you didn't, this month's Food and Drink is a handy comendium of weights and measures for Chefs, Cooks, Bakers, and anybody who loves to cook.

10. Books - All available for free download are books with a numerical theme, and these are not just any books. Readers can explore Sylvia Nasar's "A Beautiful Mind", Simon Singh's "Fermat's Enigma", and even a classic sci-fi tome by Arthur C. Clarke and Frederik Pohl, "The Last Theorem". It doesn't get much better than that!

11. Public Domain / Toast of the Town - Ah, well, a little light reading from O.Henry might take one into another dreamscape with a healthy dose of wit, a twist, and irony.

12. Back Page - What's up for next month - October - is still under development, but we've got some ideas, including a preview and hamdicapping of the Breeders' Cup, coverage of the MLB Playoffs and World Series, continuuing MLB Players of the Day, and NFL and College Football Picks every week. Is that enough?

Marketplace - While still being developed, there are deals available on vintage magazines, though the real intent is being pushed to a new level of marketing featuring free ads for goods and services from around the world.

Daily Idler - Links galore to things like craft beer, sports, horses, financial pursuits, the daily quiz, and the new Hangman game. A good place to start your day, or end it.

Home - Every issue, with nice graphics, accessible, and all for free. IdleGuy.com does not offer premiums because our readers deserve the best, for free, and it's likely to stay that way. Keep cruising!
