November, 2025 • Volume 2, #11

1. Cover - Trying to break it to you easy with Fall scenery and a babbling brook, this month's cover might be interpreted as hitting the rocks, so to speak, at the base of the photo. Hard Times are ahead. As any navigator of rivers knows, rapids and rocks are dangerous places. You've been forewarned.

2. From the Publisher's Desk - Ever get the feeling that everything you've learned about how the world works isn't quite the reality of your own experience. While the rest of the world drifts away, Americans and other Western societies are being gaslit and sold down the river. It's not pretty.

3. Contents /Credits - Yes, once again, YOU ARE HERE. And you keep coming back.

4. Calendar - November's calendar might be a little sparse, like the contents of your pantry. We'll do our best to highlight important events, if any are on the horizon.

5. State of the World - With Veteran's Day on November 11, idleguy.com takes a look back 107 years ago, to the end of World War I, which was hailed, at the time, as "The War to End All Wars." Apparently the neocons and deep state control freaks didn't get the memo.

6. Feature - This month's feature concerns itself with basic survival in a world that's being constantly threatened by elitists of many stripes. With inflation on the one hand and depression on the other, this month's theme has a focus on being prepared for anything.

7. Sports - College basketball season begins November 3, conveniently right after the World Series and Breeders' Cup, almost as if it was planned that way (it was). Now that college athletes can make money, it's changed how sports at the formerly "amateur" level operates. We dig. We dive. We score.

7a. Sports Extra - Fearless Rick and Coin Flip's Weekly NFL and College Picks are featured and updated weekly on the Sports Extra Page, at least for this month.

8. Money - Hard times? No problem. It's all a matter of accepting reality for being a little more harsh than expected and making the right moves, like saving money instead of succumbing to fear of being poor, destitute, and a total loser. In keeping with the idleguy.com attitude, savings and prosperity should be something nobody has to sweat.

9. Food & Drink - Part of living through the decline of civilization as we know it - other than moving to Istanbul or Beijing - requires that responsible and resourceful idleguys figure out how to shop, cook, and eat on a budget. And that doesn't mean pizza as a staple.

10. Books - This month’s selection of free downloads focus on the realities of the Great Depression and earlier times of hardship. Included are John Kenneth Galbraith's seminal "The Great Crash 1929", plus works by Upton Sinclair, John Steinbeck and Studs Terkel.

11. Public Domain / Toast of the Town - IdleGuy.com's librarian found some humor in a short work by the original tongue-in-cheek satirist, O. Henry. We have to admit that this month's quotes in the Toast of the Town were somewhat on the harsh side. See for yourself.

12. Back Page - What's ahead in December's issue along with contact and other relatively useless information.

Marketplace - Still working on it.

Daily Idler - Everything any guy - idle or otherwise - or gal needs to get through the day, wiht links to back issues, sports, stocks, beers, a daily quiz, Crossword, Sudoku, Hangman and more.
