🌍 NEWS & POLITICS
ELECTIONS: FRANCE GOES TO THE POLLS
The big story in March: France holds municipal elections on March 15 and 22, electing mayors in thousands of communes across the country. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo has announced she will not seek re-election, opening a wide-open race in the capital. Balloting comes amid a backdrop of rising political tension following the death of far-right activist Quentin Deranque in Lyon last week, which has sharpened divisions heading into election day.

BUDGET FINALLY PASSES
After months of political deadlock, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu pushed France's 2026 budget through the National Assembly using Article 49.3, bypassing a full parliamentary vote.
